Topic: PA Update on Act 2 rules and PFAS Investigation
On October 20, the PA Chapter of BCONE will hold its second fall virtual presentation on recently proposed regulatory amendments to the PA Land Recycling Program, Act 2, and Pennsylvania’s on-going efforts to address PFAS in public water supply systems. The presenters will be John Gross, Environmental Group Manager at PADEP and Steven Brower, Principal and Director of Geosciences at Environmental Standards, Inc. The Roundtable will be moderated by Brian Clark, Partner at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, and David Bausmith, PE, Site Mitigation Regional Manager with AEI Consultants.
In February 2020, PA DEP proposed substantive changes to the Chapter 250 regulations governing Act 2 that will likely be finalized before year end or in early 2021. Our panel will discuss the significant changes to the Act 2 program such as adding medium-specific concentrations (MSCs) for new several new contaminants, including PFOA. Additionally, our panel will provide an overview of the Department’s efforts to develop an MCL for both PFAS and PFOA and how this will impact brownfield redevelopment efforts in PA.
