This panel and tour will provide important details on exciting new initiatives, incentives and updates to the many facets of brownfield remediation efforts and redevelopment in New Jersey. An impressive array of expert panelists including innovative developers, city officials, environmental attorney, consultant, and more will unlock the secrets on how to work together to create the best projects, highlighting several successful projects in Perth Amboy.

Representatives from NJDEP and NJEDA will discuss important changes to the state’s Brownfield programs.  NJDEP will highlight the Brownfield Development Area (BDA) program, including new BDA designations and how the program can enhance the site remediation process through a dedicated NJDEP Case Manager and formation of a Steering Committee focused on brownfield investigation, remediation and redevelopment. In addition, continued and improved funding opportunities, including the NJEDA’s Brownfield Redevelopment Incentive Program will be discussed. Attendees will also learn about complimentary programs, including the NJEDA’s Aspire Real Estate tax credit program that can support brownfield redevelopment.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to tour the successfully redeveloped Thomas Mundy Park in Perth Amboy, which was once contaminated blighted brownfields and off-limits to the public, which has been transformed into a waterfront park with sports fields, green spaces, and walking trails that everyone can enjoy. Learn how the city leveraged their BDA relationships enabling them to access additional Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund (HDSRF) grant monies and build effective partnerships to expedite brownfield redevelopment and community revitalization in Perth Amboy.
